The Road Forward is a charitable trust. It was formed on 10th August 2015 to provide peer support services to survivors who have experienced sexual harm. Our founding members have been providing peer support groups in Wellington since 2010.

Our mission (Whakatakanga):

To empower survivors of sexual harm, by providing community-based peer support services, education and training resources for individuals and their whanau, encouraging early disclosure of sexual harm which enable survivors to take control of their own lives.

We do this by:

  • Promoting and encouraging early disclosure by victims of sexual harm, then supporting and empowering them in their recovery process.

  • Providing community-based social services, advocacy and other resources to both survivors and their Whānau.

  • Providing education about the prevention of sexual harm, and supporting other agencies and community providers with training to understand survivor issues.

  • Liaising with other groups that have similar aims, and sharing resources.

  • Creating and maintaining a resource library and providing information to those who require it.

  • Carrying out other activities consistent with the charitable purposes of Male Survivors Wellington.
