Through ISSC, our Integrated Services for Sensitive Claims, we provide support for anyone in New Zealand, including visitors to the country, who has experienced sexual violence. We may also be able to help if you're a New Zealand resident and have experienced sexual violence while travelling overseas. It doesn't matter if the event happened recently or a long time ago.

If you've experienced sexual violence, use the Find Support website to see the organisations that have therapists who can support you. This support for survivors is fully funded and you can start whenever you're ready. There are also services available for your family and whanau.

If we agree that we are the service that will best meet your needs, we will develop a treatment plan and our team will work with you in implementing that plan.

If we agree that another service will better meet your needs, we can support you to access that service. Or, we may advise you on some on actions you can take at home that may help you to address the issue that you have come to our service about.

In some ways having an advocate to be a voice for you in times of need when dealing with i.e. WINZ, Community Mental Health could save you a lot in un-necessary stress and/or, anxiety as you are less likely to be re-hospitalized and spend time in in-patient care facilities.

A huge benefit of talking with other people that have similar experiences is that they may know some helpful information that you haven’t heard before. This could be anything from a therapist having a unique way of explaining techniques to help with anxiety to mindfulness or meditations that are useful coping strategies for a peer

Kokiri Marae Hauora Services

Essential community social services have been offered from Kokiri Marae from early in its inception until the present day. The earliest services offered targeted those most at risk within the Māori community using tikanga Māori such as manaakitanga, whānaungatanga and whakapapa.

Teresea Olsen who is the current Manager of the Kokiri Marae Hauora, formalised this service in 1980 by offering support, counselling and advocacy for and on behalf of Māori individuals and their whānau. This service has grown over the years to a point where Kokiri Marae now offers a wide range of social services to at risk Māori and their whānau.
